3rd Line Network Engineer

We’re going through an exciting period of change at the moment, one which is hugely driven by our IT infrastructure.

One of the many projects we’re undertaking at the moment is to transition our networks to a private cloud, and we’re looking for someone to join our IT networking team on a contract basis to assist with this, initially for 6 months although there is the potential that this could be extended or made permanent.

Whilst working alongside the Network Support Specialist and IT Director on the data centre transition project, you will also:

  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilisation, trending, and capacity planning
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with Information Security
  • Maximise network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Investigate faults in the network, working collaboratively with the Network Services third-party

You’ll be primarily focused on our data centre project, in particular designing and integrating the user environment as part of the wider project.

You'll have good understanding of (and experience with) firewalls, DNS, DHCP, Routing, Active Directory and Group Policy, and will have proven hands-on experience with SAN's and switch configuration.

Good experience with Windows Server 2012/16+ and Windows 7/10 is a must, as is experience with VMWare (although VCP would be highly beneficial.

Additionally, you’ll have a strong understanding and experience of building and maintaining VDI environments (VMWare, Horizon/View or Citrix).
